People who are being cared for in their own homes do not have an overall organisation representing their views like the National Care Association. There is also no Commissioner for SEND. It became evident during the pandemic that these people do not have a voice. As a former minister for care and support said to me “There is also a case for the creation of a commissioner for People with Learning Disability- just as we have a Children’s Commissioner”. Until that person is in place I believe that the best thing we can do is share our experience and knowledge in a way that fulfils that role. That is the goal of Andrew’s World and Andrew’s Lists.
I want to share experiences, resources and expertise to create a carers portal of best practice to help parents and caregivers replicate and adapt what I have done for the people they care for. I know this can be done as I have helped others do the same already. This is a world where the cared for person feels a sense of belonging and empowerment and is supported to make their own choices about their own lives. I offer practical help and solutions but in a user-friendly personal way. There will be ideas for social initiatives and entrepreneurship and a feeling of inclusion within a community evolving this website into a creative hub - SENDterprise
